DESCRIPTION:A day-long workshop on media engagement with experienced higher education\njournalist Edwin Naidu. He will guide you through the art of refining your\nacademic work into a story that is accessible to a broader audience. How do you\ndraw people in with relevant angles? How do you tell your story without over-\nsimplifying it? Throughout the day\, practical exercises and examples will be used\nto help you get the best results. There will be plenty of interaction between the\ntrainer and each other. Sessions are meant to be interactive so that you leave\nclear on why it is important to tell your story through the media.\nThe workshop includes exploring social media and how best to use it to get\ngreater exposure for you and your work. You will also learn how to perform\neffectively in a media interview. Tips will be given on preparation\, appearance\,\nand delivery. There will be an opportunity for people to be interviewed on camera\nin a live session. However\, the interview will be conducted on a virtual level as if\none is a radio platform.
