Ms. Melanie Sadeck, is the Head of the Department of Teacher Professional Development in the Faculty of Education at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). She manages the formal in-service Teacher Professional Development (TPD) Programmes and coordinates work integrated learning, service learning and community engagement activities in the Faculty. She obtained her BSc and HDE at the University of Cape Town and her B.Ed and M.Ed at the University of the Western Cape. She is currently registered for her PhD at CPUT.

Her research focus is the professional learning of beginner science teachers. Melanie has been in Higher Education for 33 years, holding various positions in the School of Science and the Faculty of Education. She currently serves as a board member of the South African Education Research Association (SAERA) and HERS SA. Melanie has participated in a number of research and development partnerships related to education. Her research interests are: Women in higher education; teacher professional development; TVET and science education. She has presented at conferences nationally and internationally and co- authored several accredited research articles.
